Furnce Oil

Furnce Oil

Furnace oil (FO) is a dark viscous residual fuel derived by blending heavy components of crude oil in distillation columns. It is primarily used for steam boilers in various applications such as power generation units, aboard ships, and industrial plants. It is otherwise known as ‘bunker fuel or ‘fuel oil’. Since it is viscous, it is heated to enhance the flowability with proper atomization techniques. The lowest viscosity of the oil is more pumpable in industrial plants.

C category oil with 160 kg/ m3 density and a flashpoint of 66℃. As it has residual properties, gradual filtration is done to prevent filter or fuel nozzle choking which is more beneficial for exports. This also prevents gear pump cavitation problems. Nearly 5-10% of the total consumption of furnace oil is through imports.

Carbinol Petrochem markets furnace oil from well-established refineries of India. With In-house quality checks, we deliver high-quality furnace oil to our clients.

The applications of FO are as follows,

  • Fuel for power generation in diesel generator( DG) units
  • Fuel for bunkers, fertilizers, steam boilers, furnaces, pre-heaters, and other heaters
  • The applications of LDO in industries are as follows,

Ash Percent by Mass 0.02% max
    Density 820 kg/m2
    Carbon Residue 0.09%
    Carbon Content 2%
    Calorific Value 10400 kcal/kg
    Minimum Order Quantity 100 Kilogram
